VCR Commander
The VCR Commander allows the Digital Converter to control a VCR when selecting the record function in the Digital Converter's on-screen features.
Setup:

Plug the VCR Commander* into the serial port located on the rear left side of the Digital Converter.
- Place the other end of the VCR Commander in front of the VCR where the infrared receiver is located.
- Press the SETTINGS button. The Quick Settings menu displays.
- Press the A button. The General Settings menu displays.
- Press the up or down arrow button to highlight the VCR Commander preference. The default setting will show Disabled.
- Press the right arrow button to move to the VCR Brand column to select the VCR brand.
- Press the up or down arrow button to highlight the brand that matches your VCR.
- Press the SELECT button. A VCR Commander setup screen appears with confirmation questions about the VCR.
- Press the A button. The message: Please wait. Attempt 1 of number
appears. After a few seconds, another message appears: "Please indicate if your VCR has started recording."
- Press the A button if your VCR recorded or press the C button if it did not record. If you press the A button, the message "Your VCR Commander has been set" appears. If you press C other attempts to locate your VCR model will be made.
- Press the left arrow button to return to the Preference column.
- To exit the General Settings menu, press the EXIT button.

To Record:

Press the GUIDE button.
- Use the arrow keys to highlight desired program.
- Press the SELECT button. A message appears informing you that you are attempting to select a future program.
- Press the A button to record this program. If the program guide is arranged by time, it displays the program title in a red box, indicating a VCR timer is set.
- The REC symbol appears in the program description.
A procedure for recording a FUTURE program:
Note: To clear an existing VCR timer, highlight program, press select, then press the A button.
